Sweet dreams wanderer

das ungeheuer von nickelsdorf – the monster of nickelsdorf

ungeheuer_2After a dog had been killed, the little village Nickelsdorf at the borderland to Hungary and  a monster living in a lake, in the surrounding area,  the former military exclusion zone of the iron curtain, became matters of public concern. In exclusive interviews with Japanese Scientist Culaos Nakamura, Elisabeth Huemer, who lost her beloved dog and even the grand grand nephew of the first victim that disappeard in the 1920ies the facts around this myth are unrolled.

Ich glaub das sind Viecher da oben

viecherTrompetiere und Schmurzomauze sitzen im Baum. Schmurzen, Schmauzen und Trompeten. in english this would say something like: ‘this must be creepy creatures up there’ Schmurzomauze and Trompetrutes, They schmurz, schmauz and trumpet.
So there is a dozent of grotesque animals, out of Susanna Gartmayers, Contra Alto and Bass Clarinette sitting in this tree in Nickelsdorf, and they are pretty moody and react nervously to ambient noise.

looks like music

lookslikemusicLooks like music is a sculpture made of textile bands – spanned through the room – playing sounds via transducers. The form is an spatial interpretation of a found two-dimensional structure.
The sound is generated on the one hand through investigating the materiality of the object as an imaginary proposal, and on the other hand by the object’s physical reality, notably its resonances, by means of a double bass. Through playing the sonic interpretation via the object, the bands vibrate, whereby the whereby the correspondance between sound and object become visible. An interplay that lends the object an organic quality emerges, making it breathe and pulsate and giving the sound a body.

between the frames

flo_thumb1since my machine can’t keep up with the upgrade race, it wouldn’t run the latest videchat software. The old version started to confuse keyframes, to show two moments at once and produce errors, marvellous gifts of the obsolete.

Von Bahnhof nach unbekannte Straße

mappedlimo_thumb … was my contribution to AUDIOMOBILE, a project for mapping cities with sound by the Artist Run Limousine Collective. Individual audio elements are triggered by matching the output coordinates of the onboard GPS with the geographical location of the vehicle in the city as it glides through various urban scenarios. As a result, an array of audio samples, sound clips collaged with looping ambiences and complete narratives, generate an everchanging audio “city scape” projected into the vehicle. The position of the vehicle determines which sounds are being played and from which direction (loudspeaker) they originate.

From november 27th to december 5th the project stopped over in Bad Radgersburg, Austria, in course of the festival Social Sound Systems.

like you up there

A flock of starlings in the blue light is like a heavy storm, overwhelmingly beautiful and breathtaking – if you don’t have anything to loose, like property or harvest.
One possibility to scare invading flocks away from vineyards is to implement speaker systems that play sounds of barking dogs or hawks. The acoustic land art project “RAPTORreloaded” undertakes the experiment to incorporate sound art into these system

Like you up there is the attempt to form sonic contraflocks of grotesque animals. Relaxed, alarmed, in panic. Den ganzen Beitrag lesen »

sound installation for crt televisions and speakers

A cooperation with the Media arts laboratory/ Franz Xaver
Loops of pulsar-signals, as well as the live stream of the radio telescope RT03 are assigned to a multiple speaker scenario. Fed to manipulated tube monitors the signals deflect the electron beam that formerly formed the TV picture. The sounds of the “dead” stars thus generate pictures and slowly destroy the cathode tubes and burn the screens – until they end with a last flash.
